Description
A simple puree of steamed apples made tastier with the nutty flavor of walnuts.

Ingredients
- 2 apples, peeled and cored
- 1/4 cup walnut halves or pieces
- dash of cinnamon
Instructions
- Place a steamer insert into a pot and fill with a few inches of water. Bring water to a boil.
- Add apples and walnuts and cover with a lid. Cook for 7 minutes or until apples are easily pierced with a fork.
- Allow apples so cool ever so slightly, before transferring them, along with the walnuts, to a food processor. Add cinnamon and 2 to 3 tablespoons of water from the pot. Puree until smooth.
- Allow to cool and then serve or refrigerate.
Notes
You could also divide the puree evenly into silicone baking cups and freeze on a sheet pan. Once frozen, pop the puree out of the baking cups and store them in a freezer bag in the freezer for up to 3 months.
