Description
This easy Spiced Applesauce is a healthy homemade treat that both kids and adults will love.
Scale
Ingredients
- 3 lbs apples, any variety (i used gala and fuji)
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon all spice
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons molasses (or maple syrup)
Instructions
- Peel, core, and slice your apples. I use a device called an Apple Peeler Corer Slicer to make this easier.
- Place apple slices into a slow cooker and add spices, vanilla extract, and molasses.
- Cover and cook on high for 3 to 4 hours or until the apples are easily mashed.
- For chunkier, homestyle applesauce, mash with a fork or potato masher. For a smoother texture, puree with an immersion blender or in a blender or food processor.
- Serve immediately or store in the refrigerator until ready to eat.
