Inspired by lemon curd, this Fresh Lemon Sauce is sweet and tart, and pours easily over breakfast dishes and desserts.

Ingredients
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup cold water
- zest of half a lemon
- 3 tablespoons lemon juice
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 7 tablespoons butter
Instructions
- Crack the egg into a small saucepan and beat well.
- Whisk in water, lemon zest, and lemon juice.
- Heat pan on medium heat and whisk in sugar.
- Add butter and cook, stirring constantly, until sauce comes to a boil.
- Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly before serving.
