Description

Inspired by lemon curd, this Fresh Lemon Sauce is sweet and tart, and pours easily over breakfast dishes and desserts.

Ingredients

  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup cold water
  • zest of half a lemon
  • 3 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 7 tablespoons butter

Instructions

  1. Crack the egg into a small saucepan and beat well.
  2. Whisk in water, lemon zest, and lemon juice.
  3. Heat pan on medium heat and whisk in sugar.
  4. Add butter and cook, stirring constantly, until sauce comes to a boil.
  5. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly before serving.
