A review of the epic Lounge II sofa from Crate and Barrel, which we’ve owned and loved for 5 years.
As I was being stitched back up after my third c-section this past January my obstetrician received a text message on her phone. A nurse checked it for her to make sure it wasn’t an emergency. As it turned out it was a sale notice from Crate and Barrel. My doctor laughed and told us that she was couch shopping. After deciding that it wouldn’t be weird at all if I talked to her from behind the curtain, I announced that I actually had a sofa from Crate and Barrel and I love it. “The Lounge II in dark blue velvet microfiber,” I added. She was delighted to hear that and we continued discussing the finer points of the sofa until she said, “Well you’ve helped me make my decision then. I’m going to get it!” And wouldn’t you know it, she did end up ordering the very same L-shaped sectional as I have in the same fabric as well.
Aside from our house and car, the Lounge II was easily the most expensive purchase I had ever made. But I had saved up the money and got it on sale and I don’t regret the money spent at all. We actually have a friend who passes up sleeping in the guest room so he can sleep on this couch. It’s that comfortable. When you toss the back cushions aside, the seat is about as wide as a twin bed, giving guests plenty of room to stretch out.
In fact, this sofa’s spaciousness is how I discovered it in the first place. I did an internet search for “sofas for tall people.” You see, my husband and I are both taller than average, he at 6’3 and I at nearly 5’10. Plus, we aren’t really the type of people who sit straight up. We prefer to, well, lounge. Even my kids prefer to sprawl out on the sofa and believe me there is plenty of room for all five of us plus guests.
I do wish I could get a whole new cover to change up the look of our living room from time to time, as a blue sofa is pretty dominate in the room. But for now, I change things up with pillows and throws.
