My sweet little gingy baby continues to amaze me each and every day. She’s so alert and happiest when she’s with Mom, Dad, and her idol, big brother Thomas.
Elsa is now a very strong sitter, sitting up for as long as she pleases. Our next goal is to get her to turn onto her side to go from sitting to laying to up on all fours, all to prepare her for crawling. We’ve been encouraging her to sit on her knees with some support so she gets used to the idea of putting weight on her knees to crawl.
In the beginning one of our concerns was that she wasn’t interested in toys, but she is fascinated by them now, even the ones that big brother Thomas ignored as a babe like those wood and wire bead rollercoasters (do they have a name?).
Elsa loves food and is quick to remind me of that anytime I take a bite of my own meal. If Mama’s eating, she expects to get her fair share of it and, of course, I’m only too happy to oblige. Seriously, she couldn’t be any cuter when she lunges toward the spoon and noshes away.
I’m not exactly doing “baby led-weaning” because I don’t know what it entails and I don’t like strict rules, but I’m basically just feeding Elsa small bits of food from our meals. I think she’s getting to a point where she’s hungry for big meals of solid food in addition to her milk though.
Elsa hasn’t been weighed or measured since last month, but I’m guessing she’s around 19 pounds and 27 inches. She is currently wearing size 9-12 months in clothes and we’ve moved her up to a size 3 diaper. This big girl is built like a tank in her midsection, where she is unusually firm and strong. Rest assured her sweet little arms and legs have plenty of soft, springy baby fat!
WHAT WE ARE LOVING THIS MONTH
SONGS :: Elsa love, love, loves when people sing to her and she watches with awe and excitement. She’s equally enamored with a cappella singing or when the vocals are accompanied by a music video via YouTube. Current fave: anything by Radiohead.
MINIWARE SILICONE TEETHING SPOONS :: These spoons have a thick handle which Elsa immediately tries to grab and shove in her mouth, something she doesn’t try with those skinny baby spoons.
FAUX MARBLE SILICONE SUCTION PLATE :: These new-fangled bowls and plates really do suction to the table so Elsa can’t repeatedly knock them over.
Big brother update: At three and a half years old, Thomas has reluctantly thrown in the towel and given in to using the potty. It was a good fight he put up, but in the end, progress won.
