Can you believe I’ve been writing my blog for 3 years now and I’ve only had a handful of posts that fall under the “Home” category? Well it’s sadly true, my friends and today that’s all going to change.
You see, I love interior design, but I suppose I never really felt like our house was nice enough to share online. The interior wasn’t something I was very confident with, and it took us nearly a decade to afford to bring it up to a place I was happy with.
But now that I have finally defined my personal style (learn more about that in my online course Your Signature Style), I’m so much more confident with my choices, particularly in the home design category. Problem is, we’ve moved and are selling our home, leaving me with nothing to decorate and a lot of pent up ideas.
All this to say, I want to start sharing some of my favorite Cottage Style interiors right here on Bit & Bauble. That way, I can share some beautiful ideas I have discovered, and organize my thoughts so when it comes time to decorate our yet-to-be-purchased future home, I’ll have a solid place to start.
A Cottage Style Homestead
After years of pining for a little bit of land, we have finally taken a step towards our dream of building a homestead. Nothing grand, just a little piece of land, a few chickens, maybe a cow or two eventually, and a place to lay our heads at night.
While Farmhouse Style would be a great option for decorating the interior of our mystery future home, I lean a little more feminine than that. My style terms (again check out Your Signature Style) are Simple, Charming, andFeminine, which are all perfectly summed up by Cottage Style if you ask me.
So, what’s the difference between Cottage Style and Farmhouse Style? While both rely on chippy antiques and laid-back homey comfort, Cottage Style is a little more feminine and slightly more cluttery than the modern Farmhouse Style we all know so well these days.
While I’m not full-on pastels and florals like in that thereRomantic Homes Magazine, I do prefer something in between Magnolia Homes and Shabby Chic. Let’s call it Subtly Shabby! Yes, that has a certain ring to it.
So, over the next few months (and maybe forever…) I’m going to start posting some of the most drool-worthy Cottage Style interior images I’ve collected, and hopefully one day I’ll post some photos of my very own Cottage Style Homestead.
