My bright-eyed baby Elsa is 10 months old now. It’s hard to believe she will be a 1-year-old in just two short months and I haven’t the slightest idea what we will be doing about a birthday party. I do love parks and that’s where we’ve had two of my son’s birthday parties, so that’s definitely a contender. Think of it: the beauty of mother nature means less cleaning and decorating work and it give the little ones space to run around.
DEVELOPMENT
Despite having Down Syndrome, Elsa has always been pretty strong and motivated to move around. Our goal is to have her crawling by her first birthday, and we’ve been working with a physical therapist each week to help her along. She was making pretty good progress, even getting up onto hands and knees until she taught herself how to go from laying to sitting, and now that’s all she wants to do! Hopefully the excitement of this new (and very important) skill will fade so she can get interested in crawling again.
SIZE
I don’t know for sure, but Elsa seems to be about the same size she was for her last update: just over 20 pounds of pure baby plumpness, and man-oh-man are those baby rolls soft and huggable! Current size: 12-18 months.
FOOD
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Elsa is a dream baby. Not only does she sleep through the night and hardly fuss during the day, but she even eats her veggies. This month she gobbled up broccoli in a creamy sauce, as well as a chocolate chia seed pudding, roasted carrots, couscous, and all the meats. She’s a quick one too. If you don’t watch your plate, she’ll yank your sandwich out from underneath of you and stuff it in her ferocious little mouth.
LOVING THIS MONTH
BABY BANANA PANCAKES :: Sometimes pancakes can feel like a hassle, but baby banana pancakes require little thought or effort. Mash one banana, beat in one egg. Spoon a silver-dollar-sized blob into a non-stick skillet, with a bit of butter, and cook over low-medium heat. Flip after a minute and cook for another minute. The result is yummy food for baby that she can pick up and eat by herself. The tiny cakes dissolve quickly in her mouth.
VAENAIT BABY TODDLER PAJAMAS :: I’ve been buying these pajamas for Thomas for quite some time, and recently got a pair for Elsa too now that she’s big enough for their smallest size. I love them because they effortlessly slide over her pudgy baby hands that seemingly spread out on cue to restrict normal, cuffed sleeves from going on without me digging her hand out.
GATHRE MAT :: This durable, wipeable leather mat is perfect for messy impromptu picnics in the living room.
