Little Elsa is four months old now and curiously grabbing at toys dangling over her. While Elsa never really took to pacifiers (until very recently), this month she did try out sucking her thumb. In fact, one night I awoke to a loud and messy slurping noise and found her sucking away on that little thumb. In the end, it never caught on, but I applaud her self-soothing efforts. What a sweetheart!
DEVELOPMENT
She’s still making all of the motions to crawl but is, for now, stuck on her belly. At her last appointment the doctor noted that she was a “floppy baby” and recommended we see a genetic specialist to test her for abnormalities. All this time I just thought she was extra snuggly but now I can’t stop worrying about her development. Can’t help it, that’s what I do. Obsess.
She seems to be moving well and she’s strong too, but she does have trouble holding her head up and she seems to slip through your hands when being picked up. But, I thought that was normal for 4 months. For now, I’m going to assume she’s progressing normally because she sure seems like it to me.
SIZE
She’s 25.5 inches tall and just over 14 pounds now and it won’t be long until she’s outgrown her Halo bassinet and we’ll have to get her a real crib! I’m not looking forward to being so far apart from her at night, even though she’s just moving to the other side of our bedroom.
As for clothes, she’s still squeezing into size 6 months but I think we are almost ready to bump her up to the 9M size and size 2 diapers.
CURRENTING LOVING
TRUMPETTE SOCKS :: Who would ever give a second thought to baby socks? Until you have a baby and you realize that they kick and rub their little feet together like crickets and socks are popping off left and right. These magical socks from Trumpette actually stay on Elsa’s feet. Why is that so hard for other sock-makers??
MERI MERI EVIE DOLL :: I got Elsa her very first doll this month. Even though she isn’t quite old enough to play with her yet, I’m sure she will become fast friends with this adorable handmade doll from Meri Meri.
COCONUT WATER :: As a nursing mom, I’ll pretty much try anything to keep my milk supply up, especially when my output took a dive after returning to work. Out of all the things I’ve tried so far (including the much heralded Blue Gatorade and lactation teas) coconut water is the only one that has had a noticeable effect. I’ll keep you posted on that one ;-).
BABY SENSORY VIDEOS :: Every once in a while I treat Elsa to a little YouTube action and my favorite videos are the baby sensory videos set to classical music. Stimulating for baby, relaxing for mommy.
