These creepy Shrunken Potato Heads are an easy, healthy food to serve for a festive Halloween dinner or party.
I love making spooky treats for Halloween, but I also know that you need some solid food in your belly to sustain energy for the night’s festivities, in addition to that obligatory stream of Reese’s Cups and caramel apples.
These tiny two-bite roasted yellow potatoes are mild and creamy and taste delicious on their own, but even better when served with the Creamy Garlic Avocado Dip. To creepify them, simply carve out little circles for eyes, a triangle for a nose, and a rectangular grimace, circular scream, or creepy smile for the mouth.
These little Shrunken Head Potatoes would be great party fodder or just an exciting side dish for your family’s dinner. Go for a small waxy potato, like these golden yellow potatoes or fingerling potatoes. Try to find small potatoes that are more oval rather than round to look more like a human head.
The Creamy Garlic Avocado Dip comes together really quick with just a few ingredients: a smashed avocado, a few tablespoons of sour cream, a clove of garlic, and some salt. The green color makes this dip perfect for a name like “Monster Goo” or some such title.
